What you'll do:
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed.
- Drive technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Oversee the development and deployment of high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js.
- Work with databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Utilise AWS services for application hosting, data storage, and other infrastructure needs.
- Ensure code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and adherence to coding standards.
- Implement and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliverables.
- Develop timelines, assign tasks, and monitor progress for timely delivery.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Foster a positive team culture, encouraging communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support team members and professional growth.
- Facilitate team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
What makes you a great fit:
- 4+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on backend development using Node.js.
- Proven experience with AWS services (e.g., EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) and database management (SQL, NoSQL & Redis).
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or team management role, preferably in a startup environment.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express).
- Deep understanding of AWS infrastructure and micro-services.
- Expertise in database design, optimization, and management.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of developers.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- High level of initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
